Rev. Dr. Philippe SHOCK Matthews, Ph.D.

Rev. Dr. Philippe SHOCK Matthews stands at one of the most consequential intersections of twenty-first century intellectual life: the intersection of Black suffering and Black possibility, of ancestral knowledge and artificial intelligence, of rigorous scholarship and radical healing. He is a Research Scientist in Africana Phenomenology, a trauma-informed Metaphysical Minister, a GPT developer, a published academic with more than thirty peer-reviewed works to his name, and the architect of a multi-platform digital ecosystem designed explicitly to serve the healing and liberation of the African diaspora.

His scholarship is not merely descriptive. It is forensic — in the deepest sense of that word. Drawing from the phenomenological traditions inaugurated by Edmund Husserl and radicalized through the work of Frantz Fanon, W.E.B. Du Bois, and Lewis Gordon, Dr. Matthews has constructed a body of research that excavates the lived experience of the Black body under systems of racial domination with the same precision that forensic science brings to physical evidence. The goal is not simply to document harm. It is to name it, map it, and dismantle it — philosophically, neurologically, spiritually, and technologically.

Dr. Matthews earned his Doctorate in Metaphysical Science and Philosophy from the University of Metaphysics, Sedona, a credential that undergirds his unique capacity to synthesize ancient cosmological wisdom — drawn from Kemetic, Dogon, and Yoruba traditions — with contemporary cognitive and trauma science. He is the Founding Minister of the 1st Frequency of Oneness, Science, Manifestation, and Prosperity, operating through ShockMetaphysics.com, and serves as host of the Black Trauma Podcast, one of the leading audio platforms dedicated to Black psychological and spiritual wellness.

His four proprietary intellectual frameworks — the SHOCK Method™, the Four Frequencies of Humanity™, the Trinity of Black Trauma™, and Radical Self Evolution™ (RSE) — represent a coherent and rigorous system for understanding the origins, expressions, and healing pathways of Black intergenerational trauma. The SHOCK Method™, whose acronym stands for Seeking Higher Omnipotent Conscious/Cosmic Knowledge, has been applied across counseling contexts, academic publications, digital product development, webinar curricula, and AI-powered healing tools. The Four Frequencies of Humanity™ provides a developmental typology of Black identity under colonialism: moving from First Frequency (divine origin and ontological wholeness) through Second and Third Frequency (trauma-induced Eurocentric consciousness and assimilationist domestication) to Fourth Frequency (adaptive misidentification), and charting the pathway of Radical Self Evolution™ back toward sovereignty.

Dr. Matthews’ academic output is substantial and growing. His corpus of more than thirty peer-reviewed publications on Academia.edu, produced between 2023 and 2026, spans Africana phenomenology, Black trauma, AI equity, neurodevelopmental adaptations to racial stress, racialized epigenetic injury, the history of white supremacist legal and theological doctrine, and the neuroethics of artificial intelligence as it pertains to Black communities. His research on algorithmic erasure and the systemic displacement of Black communities in the post-2026 robotics era has established him as one of the most urgent voices at the convergence of racial justice and AI governance.

His digital contributions extend beyond the academy. In June 2026, Dr. Matthews launched BlackLoveGPT — a free, culturally grounded AI platform built to center Black history, relationships, identity, and healing within the architecture of artificial intelligence. The platform was featured by The Observer (theobserver.media) in a piece titled BlackLoveGPT Centers Black Healing In New AI Platform,” which described Dr. Matthews as a Sacramento-based research scientist, philosopher, and longtime technology entrepreneur. As he stated in that feature: “BlackLoveGPT was not built to make Black people feel temporarily better. It was built to give the diaspora a culturally honest, spiritually grounded, historically informed space where healing is no luxury but a right. We cannot repair what we were never taught to name, and BlackLoveGPT begins that naming.”

Dr. Matthews is equally at home in the pulpit, the podcast studio, the academic symposium, and the digital content laboratory. As a former longtime host of the Philippe Matthews Video & BlogTalk Radio Show (1998–2019), he conducted more than 3,000 interviews on culture, consciousness, and community — a body of dialogue that has few parallels in independent Black media. His current YouTube channel, with more than 65,000 subscribers, continues that legacy through consciousness-raising content that merges Africana phenomenology, AI education, and the science and spirituality of healing.

He has been featured in the Sacramento Observer — first for his community workshop on the war on Black love, and subsequently in coverage that has positioned his work within the broader landscape of Sacramento’s Black intellectual and cultural life. He has also been honored with the distinction of being described as the “Oprah of the Internet” by Mark Victor Hansen, co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series — a tribute to the reach, warmth, and cultural authority that have characterized his public presence for over two decades.

Rev. Dr. Philippe SHOCK Matthews does not simply study Black suffering. He stands inside it — as a scholar, as a minister, as a descendant, as a witness — and refuses to let it have the final word.

“Nothing is wrong with Black people — something happened to Black people. IT’S TIME TO BREAK BLACK TRAUMA!”
