These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of SHOCKmetaphysics.com (“SHOCKmetaphysics,” “the Site,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), the primary research and educational platform of Rev. Dr. Philippe SHOCK Matthews. The Site presents original research in Africana Phenomenology, the Trinity of Black Trauma™, the SHOCK Method™, the Four Frequencies of Humanity™, and Radical Self Evolution™, along with books, journal publications, media appearances, and educational resources.
By accessing or using the Site — including by browsing its pages, submitting a form, registering for a webinar, booking a Discovery Call, or subscribing to a newsletter — you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy and Educational & AI Disclaimer, each incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Site.
1. Educational and Research Purpose
All material on the Site — including articles, journal entries, book excerpts, video content, webinar material, and any description of the SHOCK Method™, the Four Frequencies of Humanity™, the Trinity of Black Trauma™, or Radical Self Evolution™ — is provided for information, education, reflection, scholarly discussion, and public discourse. Nothing on the Site establishes a physician-patient, psychotherapist-client, attorney-client, or financial-advisory relationship, and nothing on the Site is individualized medical, psychiatric, psychological, legal, or financial advice for your specific circumstances. Rev. Dr. Matthews is a Metaphysical Minister and trauma-informed professional counselor whose published material reflects a spiritual-metaphysical and Africana-phenomenological framework; it is not a substitute for licensed clinical diagnosis or treatment. Please read our Educational & AI Disclaimer in full before relying on any health-related, trauma-related, or AI-generated material on the Site.

2. Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise indicated, all original content on the Site — including text, essays, research summaries, journal articles, graphics, logos, page layout, and the frameworks described above — is the intellectual property of Rev. Dr. Philippe SHOCK Matthews and is protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property law. “SHOCK Method™,” “Four Frequencies of Humanity™,” “Trinity of Black Trauma™,” “Radical Self Evolution™,” and associated marks are proprietary frameworks and brand identifiers of Rev. Dr. Matthews; their use to imply endorsement, certification, or affiliation without written permission is not authorized.
Rights in third-party materials appearing on or linked from the Site — including book covers, quoted passages, embedded videos, guest contributions, and linked publications — remain with their respective owners and are used under license, fair use, or other applicable permission.
2.1 What You May Do
- Browse the Site for personal, non-commercial, educational, or research reference;
- Share links to public pages of the Site on social media, in academic citations, or in correspondence;
- Quote brief excerpts for commentary, criticism, or scholarship consistent with fair use or an equivalent statutory exception, with clear attribution to Rev. Dr. Philippe SHOCK Matthews and SHOCKmetaphysics.com.
2.2 What Requires Permission
- Reproducing, republishing, or redistributing substantial portions of Site content;
- Commercial reuse, adaptation, or derivative works based on the SHOCK Method™, the Four Frequencies of Humanity™, the Trinity of Black Trauma™, or Radical Self Evolution™ frameworks;
- Using the SHOCKmetaphysics name, likeness of Rev. Dr. Matthews, or any associated mark in a way that suggests endorsement, partnership, or certification; and
- Incorporating Site material into a paid course, publication, or AI training dataset.

Nothing in these Terms limits any right of fair use, fair dealing, or other statutory exception available to you under applicable law, and citing the Site or its frameworks in your own independent work is not, by itself, a representation of endorsement by Rev. Dr. Matthews or SHOCKmetaphysics.
3. Responsible Use
When using the Site, you agree that you will not:
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, its underlying WordPress installation, or connected accounts;
- Introduce viruses, malware, or other harmful code, or attempt to disrupt, overload, or interfere with the Site’s normal operation;
- Impersonate Rev. Dr. Matthews, SHOCKmetaphysics staff, or any other person, or misrepresent your affiliation with any organization;
- Harass, threaten, defame, or abuse other visitors, contributors, or the Site’s operators, including through comments or submitted forms;
- Scrape, harvest, or bulk-collect content or visitor information from the Site by automated means without prior written permission; or
- Submit through any form or email information you are not authorized to share, including another person’s private or confidential information.
We reserve the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate access to the Site for any visitor whose conduct we reasonably believe violates these Terms, without obligation to provide advance notice.
4. Bookings, Purchases, Memberships, and Subscriptions
Certain offerings referenced on the Site — including the SHOCK Method™ Discovery Call, books, digital products, Patreon membership, and Substack subscriptions — are booked, purchased, or fulfilled through third-party platforms such as Gumroad, Patreon, Substack, and Amazon. When you complete a transaction on one of those platforms, that platform’s own terms of service, pricing, cancellation policy, renewal terms, and refund policy govern the transaction, in addition to any service-specific terms Rev. Dr. Matthews may separately provide (for example, a Discovery Call confirmation email).
These Terms do not themselves create a new or additional refund, cancellation, or renewal policy beyond what is disclosed at the point of purchase or booking. Review the price, description, and cancellation terms shown before you commit to a transaction, and contact us before purchasing or booking if any term is unclear. Nothing in this section affects any non-waivable consumer protection you are entitled to under applicable law.
5. External Links and AI Tools
The Site links to and, in places, embeds or references independently operated third-party websites and AI services, including YouTube, Gumroad, Patreon, Substack, Amazon, Academia.edu, BlackLoveGPT, and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. These services operate independently of SHOCKmetaphysics; their availability, content, features, privacy practices, and terms can change at any time without our knowledge or control. We do not guarantee the uptime, accuracy, or output of any linked or embedded third-party service, including any AI tool. A link or reference to a resource on the Site is not a representation that every claim, output, or piece of content on that resource has been verified or endorsed by Rev. Dr. Matthews.
Where the Site references AI-assisted tools such as BlackLoveGPT, please review our Educational & AI Disclaimer for important limitations on how AI-generated output should — and should not — be relied upon, particularly for matters touching mental health, relationships, or trauma recovery.
6. Accuracy, Availability, and No Guarantee of Outcomes
Research in Africana Phenomenology and related fields develops over time. Material on the Site reflects the understanding, sourcing, and framing available to Rev. Dr. Matthews at the time of publication and may later be revised, corrected, or superseded. We do not warrant that any page, download, or publication is complete, current, or free of error, and we encourage you to consult original sources and, where appropriate, seek qualified professional advice specific to your circumstances.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or secure access to the Site, and we do not promise any particular personal, therapeutic, educational, spiritual, relational, or financial outcome from engaging with Site content, the SHOCK Method™, or any related service. Nothing in this section excludes any liability, warranty, or right that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Site and all content, frameworks, downloads, and linked resources made available through it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or usage of trade. We do not warrant that the Site will meet your requirements, operate without interruption, or be free from viruses or other harmful components.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Rev. Dr. Philippe SHOCK Matthews, SHOCKmetaphysics, and any affiliated consulting vehicle (including Global Care and Wellness) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your access to or use of, or inability to access or use, the Site, its content, or any linked or embedded third-party service — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Where liability cannot be excluded under applicable law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the Site is limited to the greatest extent permitted by that law.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Rev. Dr. Philippe SHOCK Matthews and SHOCKmetaphysics from any claim, demand, loss, liability, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Site, or your violation of any right of a third party, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
10. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles, except where a mandatory consumer-protection law of your own jurisdiction requires otherwise. Before initiating a formal legal proceeding, we ask that you first contact us at shockmetaphysics@gmail.com so that we can attempt to resolve the matter informally. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in California, unless applicable law requires a different forum.
11. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid under applicable law, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Educational & AI Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and SHOCKmetaphysics regarding use of the Site and supersede any prior understanding regarding the Site, but do not by themselves rewrite or replace a separate, individually signed service agreement, consulting agreement, or informed-consent document you may have entered into with Rev. Dr. Matthews or Global Care and Wellness.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, offerings, or applicable law. When we do, we will update the “Effective Date” above. Continued use of the Site after a revised version is posted constitutes your acknowledgment of the updated Terms. An update to these Terms does not, by itself, modify any separate service agreement you have independently entered into.
